The Great Blue

Expanse of blue
A waning moon
Little white butterflies
And little white clouds
Glide
Serenely

Children
Just woken up
Sing songs of laughter
In the park
More joyous than church bells
More innocent than doves

I watch
The community come together
For this is the place
For summer vacation
The place to beat the heat

Sun tea and water fights
Tennis, volleyball, and frisbee
Chess and lawn bowling
Picnic lunch
Under shady oaks
And this great expanse of blue
